DESCRIPTION:Elders Fall Retreat at Alice’s \n\n\n\nSeptember 19 5:00 pm – September 21 12:00 pm \n\n\n\nThe retreat will be held at Alice’s Wonderland \n\n\n\nFriday\, September 19: Participants are welcome to arrive as early as 5 p.m. for an overnight stay. Beds are first come\, first serve. Car or tent camping next to Alice’s is also an option. \n\n\n\nSaturday\, September 20: Come early to socialize. The meeting starts promptly at 10 a.m. Lunch is potluck and part of a 2 hour break. The afternoon portion of the meeting typically winds down by 3:30 or 4 p.m. \n\n\n\nSaturday 5 p.m. is our Spirit Walk Event (see separate calendar event for description). \n\n\n\nSunday\, September 21: Overnight stays are welcome to hang out in the morning. DESCRIPTION:Alexis\, our site manager\, is inviting all Fair Family to join him on a walk around site to learn more about the Ash trees and the threat of the Emerald Ash Borer to our canopy. \n\n\n\nCome join Fair arborists\, Kevin Hillery and Emro Roberts\, for the September 20th EAB site walk as they explain why early detection is key to managing invasive species. This talk will include inspecting and taking down the purple EAB traps\, beetle id and their look-a-likes\, and identifying and mapping ash trees for potential injections. \n\n\n\nWe will meet at Main Camp. If Main Camp is flooded\, then we will meet at the Hub instead. \n\n\n\nClick Here to let us know you plan on attending \n\n\n\nPlease wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes. DESCRIPTION:Elders Spirit Walk at Alice’s \n\n\n\nSeptember 20 5:00 p.m.  \n\n\n\nThe Spirit Walk event will be at Alice’s Wonderland \n\n\n\nThe Elders’ Annual Spirit Walk will include a “Fair Thee Well” walk through the Fair at 5 p.m. followed by a Bell Ringing Ceremony at Alice’s. Names of those Fair Family departed will be read out loud with each name dropped into a sacred fire (pending approval from grounds crew). The ceremony will conclude with a potluck dinner at Alice’s. \n\n\n\nPlease submit names of any dearly departed Fair Family member you would like to see honored to Lisa Cooley\, event organizer at cooleylisa.reeferocf@gmail.com.  Please indicate if the person passed since the 2024 Fair so we can be sure to read those names first. \n\n\n\nAttendees are welcome to tent or car camp near Alice’s\, or snag a room if any space is available. This event is being held in concert with the Elders Fall Retreat.

DESCRIPTION:Alexis\, our site manager\, is inviting all Fair Family to join him on a walk around site to learn more about the Ash trees and the threat of the Emerald Ash Borer to our canopy. \n\n\n\nWe will meet in Tower Lot for this site walk. Register by October 22nd\, 2025 to attend using this link: \n\n\n\nClick Here to let us know you plan on Attending \n\n\n\nJoin the Oregon Country Fair\, Oregon Department of Forestry’s Urban and Community Forestry Program\, and Valley Environmental for a live air curtain incinerator (ACI) demonstration and discussion on Friday\, October 24th.  We will be demonstrating the ACI’s role in fuels reduction\, wood waste management\, the control of pests and pathogens like emerald ash borer\, biochar creation\, as well as the benefits of ACI’s as a lower-pollution alternative to open burning. Experts will be available to answer your questions on these topics.  \n\n\n\nNot sure what an ACI is? Check out ODFs ACI playlist on YouTube \n\n\n\nInterested but not able to attend this event?
